Samsung on Wednesday launched in India the 5G variant of its Galaxy S20 FE (Fan Edition) smartphone, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 system-on-chip. Priced at Rs 55,999, the smartphone is available at an introductory price of Rs 47,999 on Samsung online store, Amazon India, Samsung exclusive stores and select retail outlets.

The smartphone’s launch was confirmed for March 30 by Samsung India on Twitter, and the smartphone was also listed on the official Samsung website with a ‘Notify Me’ option. The company had already launched the 4G variant of the Galaxy S20 FE in India earlier, and now, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G marks what possibly is the least expensive flagship-grade 5G smartphone by Samsung in India.

The Galaxy S20 FE was launched in five colours — cloud red, cloud lavender, cloud mint, cloud navy and cloud white. The 5G Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 variant, however, comes in cloud lavender, cloud mint and cloud navy colours. Made of plastic, the phone features textured haze finish on the back cover to protect it from fingerprints and smudges. The phone features a 6.5-inch fullHD+ Infinity-O display of 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch response rate.

The Galaxy S20 FE 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, as opposed to an Exynos SoC on the 4G variant, along with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. It also gets a hybrid dual-SIM slot for microSD card-based storage expansion. To the front, it has a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED full HD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. This panel also has a punch-hole slot for the front-facing camera, which gets a 32MP sensor, and can take up to 4K videos or full HD videos at 60fps.

To the rear, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G features a triple camera setup featuring 12MP primary, 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and 12MP ultra-wide units. Both the main and telephoto units get optical stabilisation. The Galaxy S20 FE 5G also gets Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth LE connectivity, and features an under-display fingerprint sensor. The entire setup is powered by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging, and comes in six colour variants — Lavender, Mint, Navy, White, Red and Orange.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G: Price in India, Competitors

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G is priced at Rs 55,999 but it’s being offered at an introductory price of Rs 47,999 after Rs 8,000 off as instant cashback. This price can be availed from March 31 on Samsung.com, Amazon and Samsung Exclusive Stores and other retail outlets.

As for the cameras, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G has triple cameras at the back with a 12MP wide-angle camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and an 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and up to 30x Super-Resolution Zoom. On the front, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE has 32MP snapper for selfies and video chats. There is an in-display fingerprint sensor for security and a 4,500mAh battery with 15W charging support. It is also IP68 certified for water and dust-resistance.

Powering the smartphone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 system-on-chip (SoC), paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The dualSIM phone supports microSD card for storage expansion (up to 1TB). The phone ships with 4,500 mAh battery, supported by 25W fast wired charger. It features wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.

Looking at the price, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G will be competing against the OnePlus 9, Vivo X60 Pro, ROG Phone 5 and last year’s OnePlus 8 Pro along with the iPhone 11.
