Team India’s leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal announced his engagement with Dhanashreee Verma on Saturday evening. Their previous posts on social media suggest that they know each other for a long time.

Chahal’s announcement has been hit on social media and he has been receiving wishes from his fellow teammates. Indian skipper Virat Kohli also reacted to the announcement and congratulated the couple. Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan and a number of other cricketers also sent wishes to the cricketer.

England’s Danni Wyatt, Chahal’s social media friend, also reacted to the post and congratulated the couple.

Chahal and Wyatt have been involved in number of social media banters but have never met each other. Speaking to Cricket.com a few months back, Wyatt had said: “I have never met Chahal. We follow each other on Instagram and have some good friendly banter towards each other. He is a fantastic bowler and he is absolutely funny on social media too.”

Wyatt’s comment took the fans by surprise as they share a great rapport on social media. The duo might meet in November if Wyatt makes it to the three-team Women’s IPL squad to be played in UAE. Chahal is also scheduled to tour England next year.

On the professional front, both the players have been away from competitive cricket since March. Wyatt has resumed outdoor training and is practising with the women’s team, which is preparing for the series against South Africa.

Chahal, on the other hand, has been confined to his home since March. He was to lead Team India’s spin attack in three-match ODI series against South Africa but the series was postponed due to the pandemic.

Chahal is expected to hit the field in the last week of August after the Royal Challengers Bangalore players will land in UAE. The players will enter the bio bubble environment upon landing in the UAE and will remain in quarantine for seven days ahead of the IPL 2020 edition.
