Shafali Verma has 114 runs in ongoing T20 World Cup at a strike rate of 172.72.
India women’s opener Shafali Verma is making the world sit up and notice her at the age of 16, thanks to her belligerent batting since her debut last year. She has 438 runs in just 17 WT20Is with two half-centuries at a strike rate of 147.97.
Her batting style has often been compared to that of India’s explosive batsman Virender Sehwag. Shafali tends to take advantage of the powerplay overs quite well and hits over the inner circle giving Indian team flying starts. Her 34-ball 46 against New Zealand took India to their third win in three games — and made India the first team to qualify for the semi-final.
