You can officially call her Mrs. Petty.

  • Nicki Minaj posted an Instagram video confirming she married her controversial boyfriend Kenneth Petty.
  • She got married on Monday.
  • Kenneth is a registered sex offender and was convicted of first-degree manslaughter.

While the rest of us were having the Monday-est of Mondays, Nicki Minaj was out here getting married to her controversial boyfriend, Kenneth Petty.

If you haven’t done a deep dive on Kenneth yet, know that Nicki’s now-husband is a registered sex offender who went to prison in 1995 for attempted rape. In 2002, he pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and served prison time for that, too. So, yeah, their relationship hasn’t sat well with many of Nicki’s fans. Nicki, BTW, has defended Kenneth and told critics, “He was 15, she was 16…in a relationship. But go awf, internet. y’all can’t run my life. Y’all can’t even run y’all own life. Thank you boo.”

Anyway, it seems like this hasn’t gotten in the way of their relationship because last night, Nicki took to Instagram to announce they finally made their love official in the eyes of the law. She shared a video of some sparkly heels, matching Mrs. and Mr. mugs, and baseball hats that said “Bride” and “Groom” across the front. It was like some wedding inspo lifted right off a Pinterest board.

While this might come as a surprise to some, Nicki’s been pretty open about when she planned on getting married. In August, she changed her Twitter name to Mrs. Petty and explained that she and Kenneth already obtained a marriage license and had a couple months to seal the deal. She said, “We filed for the marriage license and we still had to pick it up and I was traveling…by the time I came back, we had to renew it again. From that time, you have 90 days to get married. That was about a week ago, so now I have about 80 days.”

So, yeah, that’s what’s up with Nicki right now aside from a mysterious upcoming Queen Radio episode that she claims will be “brazy!”
