Continuing with the tradition of superhero crossovers, Fortnite has added Aquaman’s archenemy, Black Manta, as a purchasable character.

Aquaman’s archenemy, Black Manta, is joining Fortnite as a part of a purchasable set of cosmetics. As Aquaman has been teased to be a part of the season 3 battle pass for the duration of the season, it is only fitting that Black Manta be added to preoccupy the king of the sea in between rounds. Alongside the release of Black Manta, Aquaman can now be unlocked by those who purchased the battle pass.

Fortnite is no stranger to superhero crossovers having added Batman, Harley Quinn, and Captain America to the roster of equipable skins. Season 2 started with a crossover featuring Deadpool that eventually lead to the release of a series of X-Force skins. Season 3 has copied the same model as season 2 where a superhero is introduced at the beginning of the season, teased throughout the season, and is then released alongside a purchasable crossover skin.

Fortnite announced the release of Black Manta in a tweet that showcased the outfit in-game, as well as announced that the Aquaman skin can now be unlocked. Players who purchased the battle pass will be able to unlock the Aquaman skin (and Arthur Curry variant) for free by completing a series of challenges. The Black Manta skin will cost players a pretty penny to obtain as they will have to spend real money on v-bucks to purchase it from the cosmetics shop.

The Black Manta skin costs 1500 v-bucks which translates into $15 USD. On top of purchasing his skin, players can purchase his Manta Blades which is a cosmetic item for the player’s pickaxe. The Manta Blades cost an additional 800 v-buck or $8 USD. Players who want to purchase the Manta Blades will need to spend at least $10 as v-bucks are only sold in the amount of $5, $10, and $25 USD. Nevertheless, the King of the Seven Seas has dropped in on Battle Island, and his archnemesis has arrived to challenge him on the battlefield.

The continued crossovers between superheroes, pop stars, and movie icons are the most unique facets of Fortnite. Stars such as Travis Scott and Keanu Reeves as John Wick have made appearances in Fortnite, and some skin releases are accompanied by major in-game events. Even famous content creators such as Ninja and LoserFruit have seen themselves reimagined in the form of a Fortnite skin. With the endless possibilities of popular characters, it raises the question of who Fortnite will add to its roster next.
