If you ever wanted to play as a naked demon-lady who runs around ripping other demons’ heads off, then Succubus is the action-horror game for you.
If you ever wanted to play as a naked demon-lady who runs around ripping other demons’ heads off, then Succubus is the action-horror game for you.
We got our first look at Succubus some months ago when the game was still in its earliest alpha stages. The follow-up to the wildly panned Agony, which has a PS4 Metacritic score of just 37, Succubus continues Madmind Studios’ tradition of making first-person horror games set in Hell. Only this time, you’re a demon queen seeking revenge instead of a lost soul seeking escape.
Succubus, as the name might suggest, is going to be a very NSFW romp. Not only are you a “wild and lustful” demon, but you’re also eviscerating other demons like it’s going out of style. We know that for a fact thanks to the new trailer Madmind just released, as well as some other key details about the game.
First, the plot! You’re a succubus, but you’re also the former queen of Hell. You got bored one day and decided to forgo your royal duties and take off into the wilderness. Which in Hell is likely just sulfurous rocks of a slightly different shade of red.
While this didn’t sit too well King Nimrod, it definitely didn’t matter to Baphomet, a rival demon general who’d just raised an army in order to depose Nimrod. After Baphomet captures you in the wilds, he tortures and maims you and then leaves you to die. But you don’t, so then pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and then vow revenge against Baphomet.
The trailer is our first look at one of the many enemies said to inhabit the depths of Hell. This first one is called the Amazon, a warrior woman slash demon armed with a sword and a shield-like claw. Although dangerous in close quarters, you can use your speed or ranged attacks to play against the Amazon’s weaknesses and take her down.
Other key features revealed are an expandable skill tree system, character hub and customization, a multi-story plot, and boss fights.
Succubus still doesn’t have a release date, but development is proceeding steadily. We wouldn’t be surprised to have a release window announcement later this summer.
