Season 4 of Warzone has arrived, yet the super soldiers that fill the game are still incapable of clambering over rocks that are any higher than their waist.
After a short delay, Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare ushered in Season 4 last week. The hefty update brought with it mid-game events, the removal of Plunder, and a hard-hitting minigun, among other things. However, it hasn’t addressed an issue that appears to have Warzone players pretty split.
Rocks. Three foot high, unclimbable rocks, that is. Warzone players have been taking to Reddit to share their experiences and frustrations with the game’s unnecessarily challenging terrain. Some have even supplied video evidence, some of which, including the clip below, feels like watching a horror movie where viewers know there isn’t going to be a happy ending.
As is demonstrated during the clip, as the round comes to an end and the gas closes in, an entire squad of players is forced to traverse along a rock ledge. A rock ledge that, let’s be honest, should be very easy to climb over. Especially considering the supposed super soldiers who are the stars of this game. They can hop over a five-foot fence or kick their way through a window, but small rocks appear to be their kryptonite.
Other players have compared the problem to rival battle royale games, most notably Apex Legends. Those who have played both praise Respawn for making everything that looks like it can be climbed in Apex climbable. That’s the main issue here. The rocks look very climbable, and in many cases, it isn’t until a player tries to climb it that they realize it’s not possible. At that point, it might be too late.
Not every Warzone player is as sympathetic to those complaining that the game’s rocks and soldiers’ climbing abilities are unrealistic. Some claim those who are good at the game and know it well enough should leave themselves time to find another route in situations like the one above. They also relish in taking advantage of those stranded at the bottom of a ledge no higher than their helmet.
